«Our watchword since 2010-2011, when we started designing this system, has been “functional simplicity,” which means innovating by exploiting knowledge already available. The farm started to operate in 2017 and today we can proudly say that we were the first ones to create such a structure of this type; completely sustainable, and, above all, antibiotic free».

The story of PIGGLY
The growing sensitivity and attention to the quality of products and animal welfare led us, between 2010 and 2011, to create the first “antibiotic free” pig farm in Italy.
The sow farm
Where the pigs are born and raised for their first month is located in the green hills of the Province of Verona. Here they grow up healthy, far from sources of pollution, other farms, and, above all, without antibiotics from their birth.
Weaning and fattening
For the weaning process they are brought to the Pegognaga breeding farm in Mantua where we have built suitable biogas heated structures to guarantee them the care they need.
The pig farming revolution
in under the spotlights of Europe
In 2018 a delegation from EU PIG INNOVATION GROUP visited our farms, releasing, through the words of Steve Dunkley (Head of AHDB Pork KE and EU PIG Coordinator), an important testimony that brought us to the attention of many European colleagues.
Winning the national innovation award
from Confagricoltura in 2021
Thanks to the concept of “functional simplicity” expressed by our farm, 2021 saw us winners of this prestigious award, which brought attention to our sustainable working methods and circular economy.
The extreme innovation of the Piggly system is also highly appreciated by the final consumer, who is increasingly attentive to the dynamics of livestock breeding.
